It's erm, it's been a while since any admin has been on this site, I would imagine, and so we've nobody around to put any extra preventative settings into effect now :(

I don't have a lj account (rather I think I had one but forgot username and passwort). I know csakura's page there, but I'm just lurking.
While zomgfta was down (for about 2 days!?), I even looked for and found csakuras mail adress. I would have bothered her if the page hadn't returned*. But I don't know if we can bother her "just" because of spambots. Umeko and her gave other people the positions as admins. Probably because they are either not technically skilled or just not interested in admin thingies. Or lacking the time. In all cases I don't know if they'll help us if we contact them now...
It could be our last chance if noone is able to reach any of the formerly "hired" admins, but first we should try to reach those...

*(The grammar of this sentence is doomed to fail, I guess. ^^°)

On a side note: Does anyone know WHY the page was down? Firefox told me

"If you see this page, it means:

1) This website is not properly configured; OR

2) This website is not alive yet; OR

3) This website has been suspended."

I wonder if that was connected to the massive spambot attack...

When the site went down, I got in contact with simargl to ask her what we should do to get it back up, and she really helped me a lot. She said there was nothing she could do about the spambots (she noticed them through one of the fake PMs) and that we'd have to get in touch with Umeko, and gave me an email address. I suppose I'll send a short email asking if Umeko knows how we can best solve this problem.

According to simargl, we either have to get a new moderator (if anyone's up for it, because our two old mods quit a while ago) or have Umeko update the site.

EDIT: I just sent an email to Umeko - I'll see what she says.

EDIT NUMBER TWO: I got in touch with Umeko, and she told me that the reason the site was down was because she renewed it, but it didn't get there on time because of a problem with her host.

As for the spambots, she said she'd try to fix it ASAP!! So hopefully things will work out!

Hmm...well, I'd just like to thank you for your efforts on this matter (and of course, simargl and Umeko too.) You saved the forumgoers who were either: a.) too busy or b.) just plain too lazy (like me ^^; ) the trouble and aggrivation.... Hopefully, thanks to all of you, the whole mess will soon be neatly dealt with. Very Happy

No problem! It almost is.

But Umeko wanted me to make an announcement because she's realized that the version of phpBB we're using is very out-of-date, and on Thursday she'll probably update the forums, so they'll be shut down temporarily. Hopefully it will only take a couple hours on Thursday.

Well I obviously didn't get around to upgrading on Thursday, as that was yesterday (I was called in to work and didn't have the time D: ). So I'll be upgrading either tomorrow or Sunday - probably Sunday, but we'll see.
