Spoiler

The only part I'm iffy with after getting the better quality raws and looking over HBK's (or any) translation is that it seems to be a double entendre. HBK translates it as Scar saying he wields the sword and shield and wonders which way they will flow. But the combination of those two characters (矛盾)universally means inconsistent or contradictory, so the reading I personally produced was "Having contradicted this and had both (positive and negative flow), I wonder which way I will wander to."

The rest is generally a bit clearer and flows a lot better in English than what I posted, lol.

In agreement with your sword/shield translation, though I haven't actually looked at the other translations so I can't really say.

In your defense though, Takeru, you didn't have the full set of words to work with when you were translating =p

In terms of translations, I personally prefer one that sticks well to the Japanese text. I actually buy the manga in Chinese, and I think it's easier to keep the meaning in that language versus English (they probably have similar idioms... kind of, and I generally think the Chinese language is richer such that you can always FIND something with a generally similar meaning to everything), so I kind of get the feeling when the English translations diverge. But I realize I'm taking the English translations for granted so I'll keep my mouth shut xD

Takeru, out of curiosity... Are you Japanese/Have you lived in Japan before or are currently staying there/Did you learn it for interest or work? I'm almost sure I've asked this before but I've a bad long term memory, forgive me xD;

I think the difference between Hohenheim and human-based homunculi is that the "main" souls in the human-based homunculi are not human souls, they're artificial homunculus souls. Or rather, fragments of the same artificial homunculus-soul; the only artificially created soul we've ever seen in this manga so far. Human souls seem to be different from homunculus souls.

And I kind of want to believe that the human soul inside Bradley/Wrath is his own, but I suspect that it has merged with the Wrath part of the original Homunculus' soul, unlike with Greedling, who has two distinct "main" souls: Greed's homunculus soul and Ling's human soul.

I studied abroad in Japan for a few months, lol. When I joined college, I wanted to pick a foreign language to study. The head of the Japanese department was so off-the-wall crazy that I ended up taking Japanese... and for the most part it ended up coming naturally to me.

@ Seita: The difference in Bradley/Wrath and GreedLing is that the former had its human soul actively trying to reject the PS, thus the PS had to go through extreme means to take control (aka merging with the original soul or killing it), meanwhile Ling wholly accepted the PS and so they were able to co-exist?

I'm remembering back to Bradley and how he mentions how he has his pride as a Homunculus and won't ever side with the humans... If his soul wasn't at least partially of the PS then I don't think he'd be able to say something like that.

A really interesting villain for sure. As he represents wrath, what do you think are the things he is most angry about? Everything in general? I personally think he was pretty angry about the fact that his entire life was planned for him, and so he welcomed Roy and Ed and had thorough fun trying to stop them in their tracks, though getting angrier each time they were able to overcome their obstacles (yet he's always smiling when he says it @_@). I'd say he's a pretty tragic character.

@ Takeru: Luckyyy, I'd love to study Japanese... I guess to be truly fluent in the language you'll need to live in the country for a while too huh... It's a shame I don't have any liberal credits (or money) to take the extra Japanese courses that I'd like to take. I had to forgo my chances of taking it back in high school because my parents forced me into Chinese classes instead >_>;

I think so.

I haven't really thought about what he feels angry about - I always saw his wrath as more of berserker rage in fights, or wanting to destroy things (commit genocides etc). And even though he hates humans (or they "make him angry"), some minor part of him also seems to respect them in a way. He's quite a complicated person.

Scanlation at OneManga: http://www.onemanga.com/Full_Metal_Alchemist/105/

Although there seems to be misplaced text on the very first speech bubble, so can't really be certain about the quality...

Welll they had less than 24 to work with an HQ raw, so I congratulate everyone for everything that's been done so us non-Japanese-savvy fans can enjoy the chapter too <3

This. Chapter. Was. So. Good.

Arakawa is so consistantly amazing. I am going to cry when it's over for the simply reason that it's over. In every single aspect, this has been my favorite manga, and actually, one of my favorite stories of all time.

About this chapter in particular:

- Bradley dying got me choked up. He was an amazing character, and awesome until the end. And I agree with what Seita said about the arms. Oh man, anime 1 still makes me laugh at times...

- I got emotional when Al and Ed were helping Hohenhiem by supporting him as well, just because it meant so much to see Ed helping his father (sure, he was doing it for Amestris, but STILL) and you can tell that, even though Hoho wasn't exactly thinking about it too deeply in that really chaotic moment, that it meant a lot to him as well, after he felt like he failed as a father, to be fighting alongside his sons and have them supporting him and vice versa. Or maybe that's me. Either way it was great.

- I actually didn't expect Ran Fan to kill him. Revenge, after all, is something we all learned is a no-no after chapter 95.

- I love Scar. I have no idea what his fate is going to be, though...

- I was sooo proud of Mei here, too!

What I LOVE about this manga is that everything fits together PERFECTLY. Arakawa never throws something in at the last second - it's like she's sewing her story together, placing out all the threads and then tying them into the perfect stitches. We knew Mei's alchemy was different, and then she came to the rescue. We knew Hoho had this counter circle, and it was activated. Best of all was how he explained the soul-spirit-body thing, which has been led up to all along through what we know about Al's body, and all of that. So everything made sense, and we're all able to watch 50 million people die and come back to life and not question it, because, somehow, it makes perfect sense!

Now, let's see Smexy "Godfather" get his hot ass kicked!!!

okay, maybe i'm just being stupid, or maybe this is a rather poor scan, but this one page isn't even translated: http://www.onemanga.com/Full_Metal_Alchemist/105/66/

it's probably just a smartass ed remark, but those are delightful and i'm curious. can anyone translate??

Okay, judging from the three kanji that I can understand, I'm going to give an educated guess and agree that indeed, it's a badass Ed line that goes something like:

"Your throne is smashed into smithereens now."

There are random little errors with the text bubbles as well too. For example, on the last page, Ed is supposed to say "I'm gonna take you and your stinkin' Truth and kick your asses!" while the ending lines should instead say "Alchemy revived (I think a better word is restored...) The counterattack begins!"
Also on the first page. Ed doesn't actually say "The young Elrics blahblahblah," that's supposed to be the line running along the left side of the page. But meh, they don't detract from the epicness anyway xD

It's the translation taken from the link Slugsrbad provided. I've already commented above on the translation on page 60 of what Scar says, and the translator actually changed it earlier today to be a bit more accurate. Other than that, the first speech bubble is actually the text on the left hand side of the page and the second bubble is the text for both the first and second bubbles. On the last page, Ed's bubble is actually the ending text and the vice versa, lol.

Look at it.
The chair you were reclining so smugly in is now shattered!

Or opposingly, HBK's translation is:
Suck on that...
Sitting on your throne acting all high and mighty...now it's DUST.

This was an awesome chapter! I didn't want it to end, even though there were a lot more pages this month. I'm going to be sad when it's all over and done with. I don't know what I'll have to look forward to each month. As usual I can't wait until next month's chapter.

I was a little surprised that Bradley didn't show any emotion for his wife. After what he told Hawkeye in his office, I thought that maybe he did care about her somewhat. I feel sad for her. I mean she's going to find out that both her husband and her son were monsters.

@RxRfan: I also found the part with Ed and Al helping their father to be touching.
